My names is Daniel but most people just call me Dan or any of the other names that I just put on here.
I'm not really sure what this journal is going to be about, but, if nothing else, it'll give the ones I care about a little sneak peek at what really goes on in my head.

That's assuming anyone's curious, of course.

I'll assume at this point that you've seen my interests and were probably wondering about one of them. People watching. Now, I'm sure that most of you got the idea that I'm the creepy guy on the park bench that wear an overcoat.....even in summer, but, such is not the case. I keep that guy in my basement.

He's watching you now.

But, in all seriousness, I do watch people. Not intently, like I'm going to get up and beat the hell out of them, but.....well, I guess you could call it listening more than watching. You see, I try to listen to what people say as much as I can for two reasons. One, first and foremost, you never know when a person will say something that will be important later on. Someone could say something in passing that could actually prove to be a valuable piece of information in the long run. And two, becuase you wouldn't believe the dumb shit people say when they think no one is really listening. You can learn alot about someone if you listen to them when they think you're not. Personally, I've learned that people tend to be, shall we say, lacking in the IQ department.

Notice that I said most people. I've tried to surround myself with friends and family that aren't numb from the neck up. And I'm proud to say that I've succeeded in that effort. My friends are people of good quality and character. They're kind and generous, open, honest, and intelligent. I'm a better person for being around them and I hope they think the same of me.

Then there's Sean.

Now, I'd like to say this right at the outset, that Sean and I are best friends and have been for a long time. He's a good man. Intelligent, funny, and when it's time to get your hands dirty......he'll grumble and complain, but he'll help....eventually.

Sean, however, is not what you would call, shall we say, diplomatic. He says what's on his mind and he really doesn't give a damn what you think. Though some of the things that he's said to people made me bust out laughing, most other people would find it border-line cruel.

But, that's why I love him so much. I need someone like him to show me that being polite isn't always the best way to go. He's sort of the yin to my yang.

I have two siblings. An older brother, John.(We all call him J.D.)And an older sister, Deanne. I'm the youngest of three children...and I have the scars to prove it.

Let's start with the eldest. My sister, Deanne, is the most creative of us, being able to draw, paint, and write in a way that neither my brother or I could ever possibly hope to duplicate. I'll be honest enough to admit that I'm a decent writer, but when Deanne is on fire, nothing I could come up with could hold a candle to her.

On the other side of the coin is that she's probably one of the most stubborn people I've met, but, me being the youngest and all, I've always found a way to talk her around to my line of thinking most of the time.

Heh, just kiddin' De.

On the other side of me is my brother, John. John, or JD as we call him, is one of the most compassionate and courageous people I know. It doesn't matter what the cause or how far you think you've fallen, JD will be the first there to defend you or pick you up. Most people who THINK they know him believe he's a welcome mat; that he'll let people walk all over him as long as it avoids confrontation. However, I know different.

Sure, JD could probably benefit from standing up for himself a little more but believe me, if someone he cares about is under attack, the sleeping dragon wakes.
Trust me.

Well, that's all I feel like writing about myself for now....if I feel like expanding this, I'll do it later.
